South by Southwest: Initial Reports

Arrived in Austin to a nice array of welcomes: sunny weather, nice interactive folks, and a great visit from a San Antonian friend. The flights from SF to Austin were full of techy and eager NorCal developers and filmmakers ready for some sun (and if they’re anything like me, Tex Mex). 



I was glad to briefly meet two storytellers/vodcasters whose work I admire before even leaving Austin International: Bre Pettis, who I’ve enjoyed watching as he makes potato guns and single speed bikes for Make Magazine’s Weekend Projects (more about that here) and John Halycon Styn of HugNation, whose idea to “Love more/Fear less” is one that makes Austin that much more charming.
